Pressure-Decay Valve Tester

A foundry that makes water valves asked us to detect very tiny 'pin-hole' leaks in their castings. We made a tester that pressurizes a valve, and then checks for any drop in pressure that might indicate a leak. Since there was no cost-effective off-the-shelf solution, we built our own pressure-decay leak testing unit sensitive enough to reliably detect holes so small that they leak air and not water.

We were asked to deliver the tester with a 'dunk' option that puts the pressurized valve under water so that the operator can localize the leak by watching for bubbles. The customer requested that we ship the unit as quickly as possible. We received uncut aluminum on Tuesday at mid-day, and delivered a working unit to the customer on Friday morning of the same week.
